On 12 February 2009 175+ cities around the world will be hosting Twestivals which bring together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.



n September 2008, a group of Twitterers based in London UK decided to organise an event where the local Twitter community could socialize offline; meet the faces behind the avatars, enjoy some entertainment, have a few drinks and tie this in with a food drive and fundraising effort for a local homeless charity.

In addition to collecting contributions online, Twestival events are using various methods to raise money for charity: water. Some are selling tickets, while others will have free admission and raffle off donated items. Ms. Rose also set up a streaming music site, called Twestival.fm to generate additional donations. Music fans can leave a donation in exchange for listening to songs donated by musicians like the experimental pop chanteuse Imogen Heap, the indie rockers Bloc Party and a Brazilian electro-outfit, Bonde do Role.

Twitterfall is a way of viewing the latest 'tweets' of upcoming trends and custom searches on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Updates fall from the top of the page in near-realtime.



For popular trends, Twitter is queried from the Twitterfall server, and results are pushed to your browser, rather than your browser doing the queries, or your computer polling our server repeatedly. This means using Twitterfall for popular trends is nicer on Twitter than other services.

You can toggle trends on the left, selecting or deselecting as many as you like by simply clicking on them. The list of trends are updated every few minutes right in the page (if you are looking at a trend that is no longer popular, you will receive a message in the stream).

You can also type in custom search queries yourself, and select or deselect these as much as you like by clicking on them. These custom search queries can also be refined by location by using the Geolocation panel (in beta).

You can also view your timeline, as you would normally see it in Twitter. This allows you to follow all of your friends while still using our service. This can be done by logging in on the left and then selecting "Show my Timeline".

TwiBadge is a Wordpress plugin,which can add your twitter updates to blog Sidebar .Like the picture below.


TwiBadge in a widget format that resides on your Wordpress blog sidebar. It displays all your Tweets and replies, basically what you see on twitter.com/home. TwiBadge also comes with a follow button that allow any interested visitors to easily add themselves as followers.The plugin currently supports Wordpress 2.7, running on PHP5 only.
